Getting Ready

Getting Ready

Hello friends!

It's been awhile since we've written but there has been lots going on over here.

First though, a quick update on the adoption process. We are officially waiting! This may sound like a strange thing to be excited about but our Home Study is complete and our Adoption Book is being circulated among birth mothers around New England. (More to come about our book soon.) This technically means we could receive a call any day about a birth mother who is interested in us - so yes, we're trying not to freak out!

Recently Cait started a new position at the hospital she works at, and during her couple days in between jobs began to get our home ready for a little one. You may already know this about Cait, but she loves to care for our home and has decorated/painted most of our little 1940's Cape Cod house by hand. (She may have a slight addiction to restoration projects which can partly be blamed on her love for Joanna & Chip Gaines!)  Almost two years ago we began the task of renovating our guestroom. But that's what it remained, a sparsely decorated guestroom. Somehow that room over time became a painful reminder of unfulfilled dreams, so door closed we attempted to forget our hopes for that space.

Until now!

Armed with new hope Cait began to restore furniture (given to us by her parents) for what that room WILL be in time: a nursery.

Cait also found a long sought after corner cabinet on Craig's List to give us needed storage space in our dining room/kitchen. And finally a place to store her Grandmother's tea cups.

And lastly we both cleaned out the basement, donated things we don't need anymore and put away some sweet gifts from Cait's previous co workers. That group of generous nurses voiced concerns that "what if you get a call in the middle of the night that there's a baby who needs you?!" (Read: highly unlikely scenario but we love where they were going with this!) And so funds pooled together, they gave us what they believed to be the essentials for a midnight baby pick adventure: a car seat (with stroller!) and a diaper bag.  We can't thank them enough for their generous gift and for helping us begin dreaming again!

Lastly, we've begun simplifying life. As many of you know we've juggled a job a piece PLUS a full time photography business. And while we love photography we are learning, sometimes the hard way, that busy doesn't always mean fulfilled. There are things much more important that success or money. So it is with peaceful (though slightly sad) hearts that we announce that we are closing up shop after nearly four years of serving wonderful photography clients. Soon this blog will be our primary outlet for beautiful photographs - something we are actually really excited about!

So here's to new adventures ahead. To living simply. To focusing on family. To joyful days and peaceful moments in that rocking chair holding the child chosen for us.
